What's for dinner tonight ?

I was just thinking of the different dinner scenarios I have had in the last 4 days.
Over the long weekend, I yearned for some Biryani.. I have enjoyed some good Biryani from Kabob and Curry in the past. The Biryani is available only on Friday evenings and it gets sold out pretty soon. Biryani night had to be carefully planned! Off late, I have had the chance to savor the Mutton Biryani from Spice Hut, and I am quite taken by the Biryani here. That was my destination for dinner on Saturday.

Sunday night, I spent at a friend's house. My friends had a baby in October and I had not met them in a long time. I spent some time playing with the baby, catching up with my friends and had dinner with them.

Monday night, I was in the mood for a simple fare. So it was "Begalabath" or yogurt rice from Woodlands in Sunnyvale.

Yesterday, esavage13 and I had dinner at Shalimar.
The restaurant is in Fremont and I had heard about this place before. The food was pretty good. esavage13 told me about his trip to the East Coast and we discussed features on our blogs. He mentioned a feature in which the comments segment opens up as a box on the same page instead of redirecting to a different page. I'll have to work on that this weekend.

Tonight, I was in the mood for some chinese.. so it was the local Wok Express for some chicken chow mein.

Bless the Bay Area for its cuisine diversity!

Back ....

Haven't posted in here for a while... The last few weeks have been eventful. I met up with Dad in Chicago the weekend of Mother's day. We met up with family friends, did some shopping around town and had a great dad-son weekend.

Back in town here, I met up with an old friend of mine. We were in high school in India. He was here on vacation.. We dined out and remembered the old times and friends from high school. Some of my friends have done quite well.. from what I heard.

CherkyB has been trying real hard to convince himself and anyone willing to listen to him that I had passed on. Read about it here
, here and here.

My last post had quite a few comments from CherkyB who had started a "Spanky Rememberance Guinness fund". The only useful comment in there though, was that I had gotten my normal body temp wrong. Thank you anonymous! That was my dyslexic typing at work.. I meant to say 98.7.

CherkyB and I even had an IM conversation about my coming back from the dead..

CherkyB: how are the dead?
Spankster: very dead
CherkyB: are they continuing on all right without jerry?
Spankster: gratefully yes

I finally made it to Fat Camp last Thursday, after nearly a month. It was good to meet up with Dr. APatti after a long time. CherkyB and I talked about our blogs and kinda bored APatti. CherkyB fessed up that all that talk about me being dead was an attempt to bait me to update my blog.. I told him that I realized that was the intent, which I didn't fall for.. and that the break from blogging felt energizing!

I've set up a counter that tracks unique visitors to my blogsite. Thanks CherkyB! for the info download on the counter he set up on his blogsite.

Also found out a couple of more friends of mine blogging here. esavage13 and I started of as interns in the same group in 1999 and have kept in touch since then. Siqimo and I worked on a project at work last year.

Yup, its good to be back!

Body temp is a steady 97.8....

... and all is well. Its good to be back after a few days of high fever, sore throat and constant coughing.. well, actually the coughing still persists.. but the temp is back to normal.

The days have been pretty bad since my last post. A 103C-104C fever is not a pleasant experience especially when one is alone. I had figured this to be the seasonal flu thing.. but the virus seemed to have taken a liking for me..took its own sweet time to leave my system.

Anyhoo, CherkyB in his inimitable manner of speaking talks about me in his latest post and then promptly starts a rumor...

All I care about is that my body temp is a steady 97.8.

Sore throat, nagging cough go away...

...Spanky wants to play the Mazda CX-7 Earth Search.
The sore throat and the cough continue to persist, and its bugging me (literally and figuratively) to be in this state. I was just reading up posts on the Unofficial Google Blog when I came across this post about the contest. I found Google Earth to be quite nifty. The contest gives clues to different locations that have to be located on Google Earth to move to the next level. Fun!

Oh, if you're interested, a test drive report on the CX-7 in the San Jose Mercury News is here.

Starve a fever... feed the cold ?

I've not been able to post the last few days due to a viral fever. It started off as a sore throat which I ignored initially. I was running a temperature that night and that was the start of it all... It's been a bit downhill from there.. fever peaking up towards the evening, sore throat in the morning and coughing for the rest of the day. Hopefully things will improve soon...

I've been gargling with salted water for the sore throat, downing some tylenols for the fever and resting a lot.

I missed Fat Camp as a result. CherkyB had called in the evening, to tell me that he and TommyO were heading for Jake's. I was asleep having had a couple of tylenols in the afternoon.

Hoping tomorrow is a better day.

Blogging shmogging...

So I find out that a few of my friends have started blogging... and guess what.. I figure in their blogs too... Oh joy! ...

Can't fight 'em? Join 'em...

Here's a shout out to CherkyB for talking about his blogs at Fat Camp this Thursday... I checked out his blogs and decided that one more blogger cannot do that much harm in this WWW.
